AMCC Community of Practice Year in Review

2023 has been a productive year at AMCC as we have worked with all of you to accelerate the pace of progress to revitalize American manufacturing and pursue sustainable development across dozens of regional manufacturing communities. From little acorns, AMCC has grown from a volunteer network of moonlighters to a funded nonprofit organization that can better serve as a backbone for manufacturing ecosystem practitioners nationwide.

We’ve been lucky to have this journey fortified by the earnest participation and expertise of so many of you around the network, and this collaborative endeavor wouldn’t be possible without your shared commitment to working together to advance the achievement of our nation’s manufacturers and American society writ-large.

In the spirit of openness and transparency, we have put together a handful of datasets that show how much ground we’ve been able to cover thanks to all of you, and thanks to our partners at the U.S. Economic Development Administration for designating AMCC as the Nation’s Manufacturing Community of Practice. The tables and charts below provide insight on several of our core activities through FY23, and the amount of time and participation invested by you all that advance our common interests. Thank you to all AMCC leaders for making our work possible this year!

National Monday Call

Our weekly, network-wide convening of all AMCC leaders who join for quick, efficient and informative 30-minute calls every non-holiday Monday of the year. These calls have been ongoing for nearly a decade, and have grown to greater heights over the past year. In the first year of AMCC’s Community of Practice, 278 unique individuals participated in at least one call, wow!

To explore further, here’s a zoomed-in view that shows all participating organizations attending under 1100 total minutes in FY23. Are you reading this and wondering why you aren’t already on these Monday National Calls? Message David ASAP!

Weekly Update

Our other weekly activity, the AMCC Update, is an attempt to capture the universe of resources, learnings, announcements and best practices relevant to manufacturing community stakeholders. Both the increase in the number of readers of the Update, and related engagement, is proof positive that the Update is a useful resource for any practitioner trying to see the bigger picture of federal/state/private initiatives and regionally-successful implementation strategies that can be applied in other regions of the country. Should you ever have resources to include in the update, or feedback on ways we can make this even more valuable, again, message David

Roadshows

As part of our collaborative partnership with the U.S. EDA serving as the nation’s manufacturing Community of Practice, AMCC worked with regional partners to co-create meetings organized together with key regional manufacturing community stakeholders. We call these co-created visits “Roadshows”, which have been effective in bringing together diverse parts of a region’s manufacturing ecosystem to encourage greater alignment and long-term partnerships. In total, we traveled to 19 regions in 12 states in our first year. This chart shows the wide range of organizations who participated in each leg of the roadshow. A huge thank you to all our regional co-hosts!

Thanks again to all AMCC leaders! Onward to 2024!
