Thanks to the leadership of Ashlee Breitner and Stephanie Ludwig with the University of Michigan’s Economic Growth Institute (EGI) for organizing a full day of facetime and learning with local EV and defense manufacturers and the ecosystem supporting them. We engaged in a great feedback workshop led by Next Street and Michigan’s Office of Labor and Economic Opportunity, with manufacturers there quick to ask for more support in navigating defense contracting requirements and finding skilled, local labor.
We then were invited to speak to the Michigan Defense Resiliency Consortium funded through the DMCSP program and advancing energy storage and battery manufacturing supportive of DOD priorities. We also got to tour the university’s Battery Lab and Robotics Center, showcasing the R&D assets available to strengthen the Southeast Michigan region’s manufacters.
The University of Michigan and its partners with the GEM Mobility Consortium and Michigan Defense Resiliency Consortium are engaging in productive work advancing the development of Michigan’s manufacturing ecosystem. Thanks again to Ashlee and Stephanie for an excellent Roadshow visit!
