Learn about DOE OCED’s Industrial Demonstrations Program: Engaging with Communities

BFF Christina Walrond of the U.S. DOE’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) joined AMCC’s weekly national manufacturing community call  to talk about how communities will be an integral part of their upcoming $6.3 billion funding opportunity for industrial decarbonization.

The Industrial Demonstrations Program will fund transformational projects that focus on the highest emitting industries where decarbonization technologies can have the greatest impact: iron and steel, cement and concrete, chemicals and refining, food and beverage, paper and forest products, aluminum, other energy-intensive manufacturing industries and cross-cutting technologies. To ensure these projects provide benefits to their host communities and neighbors, the funding announcement will require a community benefits plan from each applicant. OCED sought insights from AMCC on how communities might define a “benefits,” and what they should be thinking about to build strong industrial / community partnerships.
